Press release: ARCAD Software launch new subsidiary.

Stockholm, 10 March 2016 – ARCAD Software, leading vendor in Enterprise Modernization and DevOps solutions for IBM i, today announced the launch of a new subsidiary, ARCAD Software Nordic.

The creation of this new subsidiary in the Nordic region closely follows the launch of ARCAD’s German subsidiary in late 2015.  ARCAD Software has been active in the Nordics for over a decade, and has an established customer base in the banking sector. Primary business to date has been in the delivery of Application Lifecycle Management solutions.  “After years of growth, both with direct sales and through our important business partners, now is the time to have an organization in place for an active local presence”, states Philippe Magne, ARCAD Software CEO.  “We are lucky to have appointed Torbjörn Appehl, our first IBM Champion, to head the new operation”.

The Nordic countries Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland make up a dynamic region with many large and midsize IBM i-based companies and a vibrant user community.  Many IBM i shops are struggling with challenges such as a lack of RPG programmers, dependence on key staff with application knowledge reaching retirement age, and core applications with old-fashioned user interfaces.  These are all issues that are easily solved with the ARCAD Software solutions.

“We see a lot of companies cancelling long running projects for replacing their IBM i (or even AS/400) applications with some standard package. Often the original application is reliable and working well, and the decision to replace is made without a full view of the risk and cost involved. The good news is that by using our modernization tools we can make a homegrown IBM i application ready for the future within a few months at a much lower budget than replacing a system”, says Torbjörn Appehl, CEO for ARCAD Software Nordic.

The Nordic region is also seeing high adoption of DevOps and agile methods across software development and delivery.  “Modernization is also about people and it is important to encourage a DevOps mindset and culture in IT.  DevOps tools for automating continuous deployment and continuous test help companies deliver value faster to their customers or end-users.  They have become a requirement to keep pace with business and stay competitive”, says Appehl.  “We are very excited to bring ARCAD’s DevOps and test automation technology to the Nordic IT market”.

ARCAD’s integrated DevOps and test automation solutions are compatible with a variety of platforms, including IBM i, System z, Windows, Linux, AIX and multiple databases, such as DB2, ORACLE, and SQL server.  They are distributed via two wholly-owned subsidiaries, DROPS Software and DOT Software.
