Common Belgium is kicking off its 2015 schedule with a close look at security. The IBM i user group will hold its first major meeting of the year at the IBM Client Centre in Brussels on March 11.

In his invitation to the event, Shirang “Ranga” Deshpande, the group’s vice president and events organiser, says: “Infrastructure, application development and end-points all have one common point – security vulnerability. Financial, personal, contact, medical and all other organisations have one common point – security vulnerability. Security is one of the highest business issues today, crucial for company data, reputation and just plain survival.”

The day will feature an officer from Belgium’s Federal Computer Crime Unit who will talk about recent corporate breaches. IBM Germany’s Thomas Barlen follows with a look at safeguarding precious business data with the latest IBM i security enhancements.

Guy Marmorat, CEO of French specialist Cilasoft, will present a session entitled “Stay on top of your most difficult IBM i security challenges” and there will also be a seminar on secure web app development.

The full-day conference also incorporates the group’s annual New Year reception dinner which this time features a wine-tasting session. For the full details, check out the Common Belgium website.
