The report, which is in its 11th year was conducted by Vision Solutions (now part of Syncsort), surveyed 5,632 IT professionals globally, looked at the data protection strategies and key IT initiatives companies are deploying in the face of ongoing, high-profile hacking attacks, data breaches, disruptive natural disasters and escalating storage and data accessibility needs.
Not surprisingly, security topped planned initiatives, with key takeaways, including:
- Internal security audits are still all too infrequent
- Cloud security continues to be a top security challenge
- Availability is the top measure of IT performance
- Data sharing is critical, but challenging and complex
